Simeone Museum "AC Retrospective"

Opening on February 18th and running through March 12th the Best of Britain, now in it’s sixth year, will feature an “AC Cars Retrospective” at the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia. If you haven’t been to the museum and you are a fan of British cars, you should mark your calendar to attend this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of AC Cars. We assembled what will be the most complete collection of the “Thames Ditton” AC cars from 1910 through 1983 in the museum for three week exhibition. Cars are coming in from all over the states, as the AC Retrospective kicks off with buffet dinner featuring Bill Jackson, a former member of the AC Racing Team when the Bristol engine was introduced in the mid '50s. He will have share some great stories to share and will take questions. So, come out to witness history and find who put the AC in the AC Cobra! Click HERE for more information to buy tickets online for the AC Retrospective opening meet and greet reception and buffet dinner.

In the Shop Now: Lotus Europa

by: Mike Sinback, Shop Manager

This 1972 Lotus Europa has been sidelined since the 1980’s. We’ve completed a full evaluation of the vehicle for the customer. Our next step will be to remove the engine and begin the process of returning this car to roadworthy condition.

Arizona Concours

by: Al  Anspaugh

It was the biggest surprise of a nascent 2017.

"Congratulations!" said Arizona Concours d'Elegance judge Michael Tillson. Our little 1960 Triumph Italia 2000 GT had won one of two Class Awards among the nine Vignale-built giants present.

Robin and I had invested a bit of time, effort and anxious moments trailering 2,500 miles to Phoenix in early January, but never -- never -- had we expected "Amelia" to outscore our noble Coachwork-by-Vignale classmates. Under a cloudy, cool, but dry sky on the manicured grounds of the Arizona Biltmore, the Vignale stable was represented by four exquisite Ferraris, three beautiful Maseratis, a stunning Osca and our Triumph. What a group for Amelia to begin her third year of showing since a two-year build by Ragtops & Roadsters and Pollock Auto Restoration.
Concours participants, officials and attendees alike were generous with their praise. "It's the size, the proportions, the paint. Stunning," said one. In my mind, Amelia had won this award on her own. Two weeks of detailing top to bottom was but incidental; it was her presence, her charm, that won hearts.
Our Vignale class was won -- quite deservedly -- by a 1953 Ferrari 250 Europa Coupe Vignale, one of only two so built, owned by Kevin Cogan of Louisville, KY. Sharp-eyed fans might have seen it at Pebble Beach in 2015 or Villa d'Este in 2016.
Most fun was a long Tour d'Elegance through the desert the next day, accompanied by dozens of fine autos of every vintage, and owners most interesting and friendly nearly to a fault. (Fortunately, Amelia sipped petrol from her near-empty tank, avoiding embarrassment!)

Having just completed its fourth year, the Arizona Concours d'Elegance is a must-attend event, and I encourage everyone to go next January. But if you trailer, a little tip: Through the seemingly desolate and endless Panhandle and New Mexico, never let your truck's tank ebb too low. Don't ask me why.

DVT 40th Anniversary Party

Over 70 DVT members turned out for the 40th anniversary of the Delaware Valley Triumph club. Some charter members were present as Bob DeLucia awarded DVT "Car of the Year" and the "Walk of the Cock" to Melody and Larry Laurel.
Melody sent this message to our staff at R&R: "Thank you  for making these trophies possible and for your expertise on making Banshee the joy she is to drive. She is my bit of joy in this tumultuous chapter of my life."
