  A Look Through
the Windscreen

By Dave Hutchison

With the weather slowly improving, the car show season is getting closer every day.
To help you plan your car event weekends, we’ve put together a comprehensive list of shows, big and small, in a calendar over to the left side of this newsletter. You can see the events scheduled for May and June, or download and print the complete calendar for the whole year. Let us know if we missed any...we’ll be happy to add them!
After our 17th Annual Spring Open House on May 14, we plan to attend the Import and Kit Car National in Carlisle, Pa. to represent Birkin America on May 20-21.
The next day, May 22, we’ll be at the Concours of the Eastern United States, which will be held for the first time at Skytop Lodge, in Skytop, Pa. The 1935 Hudson Terraplane, which has been undergoing restoration at Pollock, has been invited to this incredible venue for what should be a great showing of “A Celebration of Styling & Design.”
What has become the largest British car show in the Philadelphia area is now expanding to include a strong contingency of Brit bikes. “The Cars and Motorcycles of England Show,” sponsored by the Delaware Valley Triumphs group, is scheduled for June 4 in Westtown, Chester County, Pa.

A Look Through
the Rearview Mirror

It's been a busy spring here in the shop in Bucks County as well as at ourt sister shop, Pollock Auto Restoration, in Pottstown, Montgomery County. Unfortunately, seat time for our classic cars has been in short supply because of all the rain, especially on the weekends.
Everyone seemed to have a great time last month at the Open House and Shop Tour over at Pollock More than 100 classic car guys and gals come out to see what’s new in that shop and enjoy a special lunch treat.
The Terraplane was a popular attraction, as was a 1971 Plymouth Road Runner that is nearing completion of a major restoration.

Sellersville resident Terry Morningstern, the proud owner of a 1930 Ford Model A, won a detail bag in a raffle.

Our entire staff was in attendance to answer questions about restoration techniques. Dorian Custodia (below)demonstrated his metal-shaping skills while Curtis Bohn handled paint related questions.

It was a great time and we're already looking forward to next year's event.

Shop Update: AC Bristol

AC Bristol

Ragtops & Roadsters technician Bill Dittrich installs a clutch master cylinder on a 1957 AC Bristol. The car's frame came back from powder coating and was transported back to the shop to have the suspension, brakes, and wiring done before the aluminum skin is fitted.

Amelia Island 2011:
What a Duesy of a Show!

My weekend in Amelia Island, Florida back in March was an amazing experience. The cars were phenomenal, the people friendly, and the weather gorgeous. What more could a car guy ask for?

Two Dusenberg's
Anyway, here’s a detailed account of the show. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed being there.

SEMA Sets July 8 as
"Collector Car Appreciation Day"

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) councils have announced July 8, 2011 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”
The date marks the second commemoration in what will become an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.  SEMA and its councils are now working to secure a Congressional resolution to recognize the day’s significance.
